01 / Challenge

Room for objects.
Air around them.

We developed RX8 as an independent product: open aluminum shelving for books, publications, and collected objects. It can be integrated into an interior we design or ordered separately.

We focused on proportions, metal and hardware selection, surface finishing, and assembly sequence. Repeated panels establish rhythm; slender posts keep the displayed objects in focus.

02 / Configurations

One module.
Different forms.

The repeating module forms the basis of several objects. Changing post heights and section arrangements creates a coffee table, narrow shelving, or a composition with shelves at varying heights.

Varying heights

All 16 panels in four sections. Heights vary from one to three tiers.

Configuration options. Post lengths and connections are selected for the chosen form.

03 / Materials

Metal sets the
character.

Aluminum shelves combine with stainless steel components. The open construction preserves views through the space and keeps objects in focus.

We paid special attention to the finish: clean edges, a restrained sheen, and soft light reflection. The metal picks up tones from the surrounding interior.

Visually light shelves with carefully finished edges. The surface softly reflects light and its surroundings.

Stainless steel

Connection details complement the aluminum planes in color and surface character.

Demountable connections

The shelving can be disassembled for transport and reassembled in the chosen configuration.

04 / In the interior

Open to objects.
Open to space.

We tested the proportions in different interior scenarios: with books and personal collections, in a gallery, and in product displays. Metal reflects the surroundings, while open shelves preserve a sense of lightness.

Design outcome

We developed RX8's structure, materials, and finishes. Using one module, we proposed several forms for storage, display, and everyday use.
